Subs always screwing up my tile jobs - time to go in-house?

I've been subcontracting out my tile work for years now, but these guys keep messing up the layouts and wasting my Schluter systems. Last week, the sub showed up with the wrong thinset and had to redo half the shower pan because it wouldn't bond right. I'm tired of chasing them down for fixes and eating the delays on commercial remodels. Saw a post on r/Contractor about ditching subs entirely, and honestly, it's tempting even if it means hiring my own crew. Someone in The Contractor Fight FB group was ranting about the same liability headaches with sloppy subs. Anyone else ditched them and never looked back?

Man, I feel you on the sub drama. Been there with plumbing subs who half-ass the rough-ins and leave me to clean up.

Subs suck, period. One time my flooring sub used the wrong adhesive on a LVP job and the whole floor bubbled up. Had to rip it all out myself and the client was pissed. Now I just tell 'em to pound sand.

Yeah, that bonding issue sounds familiar. I've had subs botch grout lines too many times. Stick with your own guys if you can afford it.
